BERTHA XOCHITL RAMIREZ

Founder, Misionando

Industrial and Graphic Designer, Policy Making and Social Project Manager and Entrepreneur

I am a risk taker of Mexican descent who is passionate about empowering people regardless of race, age or creed. This is me, Xochitl Ramirez—creativity, social and human development are my three greatest passions.

Since I graduated with a degree in Industrial Design in 1996, I have never stopped enhancing my skills and knowledge which has led me into multifaceted skills in Industrial design, graphic design, video editing and animation. In the same respect, my curiosity to learn more about the effects of poverty and equality, led me to earn a second degree in Policy Making and Social Project Management. Adding to this journey of living in Kenya has empowered me to learn English, Swahili and basics in French.

Over seventeen years, I have designed for international enterprises, NGOs and religious institutions in the USA, Japan, Cambodia, México, Canada, India and Kenya. My clients include UNDP, Kenya Red Cross Society, Global Fund, Mastercard Foundation Africa, Guadalupe Missionaries, Quebec Missionaries, Judiciary Kenya, Footprints Press, among others. In the last 7 years, I specialized in designing coffee table books and consulted for Bobby Pall Studio, which enabled me to increase my knowledge and skills in documentation of projects for NGOs.

I am the Founder of Misionando – a project that arose in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic whose aim was to empower Kenyan families who lost their employment as a result of the pandemic. In essence, Misionando is a Social Enterprise which seeks to contribute to the development and the social wellbeing of communities in marginalized areas, by focusing on empowering the wholeness of families.
